When it benefits them. [There's a beat, distantly thoughtful. Whatever is running through his mind is unpleasant and petty and masked with a collected expression.] Some voices are a little too inconvenient to not be spoken for.

Inconvenient, [ Perla echoes lightly with the slightest roll of her shoulders (it'd be rude to simply shrug and she's heard her father talk quite often and at length about the things he's done for the sake of avoiding inconvenience). ] That's a very charitable way of putting it, I find.

[Sir. The word makes him grin with an exhale as he shakes his head softly. 'Sir' is what he and his brother would call their father when they were boys. Sometimes it still slips from their tongue, be it in a subtle provocation or in a moments of tension. Diniz's daughter called her grandfather 'sir' once, before he insisted she adopt a warmer name. It made his skin crawl.]
