Hey, that's not fair. There was that movie with Zooey Deschanel. And Tumblr. Tumblr loves The Smiths.

[This isn't helping. He can already see the forever alone face hanging over his head.]

Besides, I never said I liked them.

You don't have to like them to date yourself. You just have to know who they are and bring them up in conversation in a totally unironic way.

[ After a moment, she gives a shrug. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter. ] But for the record, dating yourself is way better than bringing up Tumblr.

I'm saying the creepy talk about death sounds like the song about the bus and the crashing. Which is also creepy. Lots of emphasis on the creepy.

[ This whole concept of wanting to die with someone baffles Cat to no end. She understands dying for them, but nothing beyond that, largely because that is the only means of dying that she knows; dying for her king. Still, she is further baffled by a reference to the Smiths, because it's something she faintly remembers from her childhood, but is otherwise entirely irrelevant to the world she now lives in. The pang of familiarity is strange.

Cat has nothing particular to contribute, just funny looks to give out. ]

[Hello, strange lady giving him funny looks. It makes him a little tense, really, low level paranoia - who was she, what did she know about him, what did she want - but his only response is to give a funny look right back.]

Angst and the Smiths tend to go hand in hand. [ She pauses, almost a little awkwardly, as if she's trying to figure out whether to continue or not. ] As far as I remember, anyway.
