[ Isaac spreads his hands slightly, his palms showing outward in the approximation of not-a-shrug. ]

Born ready. Just in case.

[They might have had their lives dedicated to the cabal, to the protection of the witches, but they had never been separated, never had their relationship as siblings lessened or denied. The witches would always come first, but Ethan would never forget that Isaac was his brother, and concern still lingers in his expression.]

In silence?

[ He doesn't talk much in general and never has, even as a little boy. The sisters say that, when he was born, Isaac hadn't so much as cried — not even when the midwife had slapped his bottom to make sure he breathed right. As little as he talks in general, Isaac speaks even less to Ethan. Which is odd, given that Ethan is the one person he has the most to say to. But, given their age and their time together, in this place that has little to offer as distraction from one another and the sisters, Isaac's silences are profound and his brother knows just how to read them.

He shrugs.

[Ethan might be the louder of them, the more aggressive - as far as loud and aggressive went, in the halls of Sibylla - but he had always made sure there was a space beside him for Isaac, that he had always listened when Isaac did choose to speak. And when he didn't.]

I'd hope to.

[It's almost impossible, in a cabal full of seers, to have any privacy, to have secrets, and so it is tempting to keep them from those that it was possible to do so with. Ethan knows that, but he also knows he would never keep secrets from his brother.]
